Had a similar problem a while ago. Check the y-axis motor pulley and see if it is fixed tighly. When it is loose it will have play with respect to the motor axis. During high accelerations the y-axis will move through this play and generate a shift of a few mm.

Maybe the upgrade could be split in several parts. This makes the step (and cost) to make an certain upgrade smaller.

- Heated bed upgrade
- Z axis upgrade
- Electronics upgrade

I share the opinion of aikx and dognotdog with respect to the electronincs.

I also had huge isseus with curling and adhesion to the printer bed. Tried several solutions: Spirit on kapton tape: (alcohol with a pigment). The pigment seemed to build up over time and after a while curling and adhesion got worse Hair spray on kapton tape: (couldn't find Aquanet in the Netherland...
