Power resistors?

Hello all, I need more heat to the bed so I can print in ABS. my heatbed maxes out around 70C which is about 15-20 short for good ABS prints. So I've been looking at upgrading the resistors to generate more heat. Now the stock ones are 15W 4R7 Arcol ones in parallel. I was kinda surprised that they ...

Re: Twicx Upgrades: Dual Extruder, Electronics and Z axis

Finally got a few hours this morning to make some progress. http://i59.tinypic.com/2mi3r7b.png So far, I have the position of all the parts of the extruder laid out, and some of the plastic parts designed, namely the twin-airduct, the arm to hold in the hot ends, and the adapted felix base connectio...

Re: Electronical upgrade (Rumba board) + E3D Kraken

Have you had much difficulty in getting the Rumba board going? I'm not at that stage yet, I plan to do things like building the carriage, the new carrier etc first, but I'm anticipating the rumba being tricky.

Re: FELIX printable spare parts

Was there ever a print file for the bigger piece of the gantry/carrier? I know there's a part called part 2, the top part, but the big bottom piece, any file for that?

Twicx Upgrades: Dual Extruder, Electronics and Z axis

Hello all! So I've now finally embarked on a fairly lengthy process to upgrade my 1.5. Upgrades include a Dual Extruder, a new RUMBA board, and an uprgaded Z axis in the form of a linear NEMA 7 motor. In anycase, I thought I'd post my progress here in case there's any upgrades that people want to do...

Re: Electronical upgrade (Rumba board) + E3D Kraken

oh crap... so I managed to order some toothed-hobs for feeding the fillament in the wrong size. They've a 5mm bore, 8mm diameter. Thought I could drill them out, managed to drill out the teeth. Mega disaster. HOWEVER With the rumba board, I got 3 nice new pulleys, like the ones for the belt that dri...

Re: Electronical upgrade (Rumba board) + E3D Kraken

I didn't think of checking the power supply... Surely the existing one will be ok for what I'm doing??

I'm not really doing any work on it till I've all the parts, but the motors dispatched today, and the hot ends should come pretty quick too.

Re: Electronical upgrade (Rumba board) + E3D Kraken

PARTS BONANZA!!! http://i43.tinypic.com/8vrx8h.jpg First batch of parts arrived this evening. Super mini geared hobs are really cool, and also, considering i got a fan with the rumba, I'm thinking 2 x 40x40x10mm fans will be a nice looking way of cooling the electronics enclosure. Gonna start design...
