Re: Ooze Control Dual Head + Simplify

I've seen other printers like the Ultimaker 3 have very quick tool changes and no ooze whatsoever. The Felix (Tec 4 in my case) oozes like crazy no matter what my retraction settings are. I've got it set for 12mm retraction at 60mm/s and both nozzles ooze for a considerable amount of time until they...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

Last night I got to thinking about the heat map I posted above. Yes, the data supported the fact that the distances measured by the z-probe were rather weird. But the data fell into a systemic pattern instead of a random one - if the z-probe was malfunctioning you would normally expect some degree o...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

The data seems to point that the z-probe (which is also the Z-min end stop) is the problem. It seems neither highly accurate nor greatly repeatable in its measurements. Conclusions: As the Z-sensor is also the z-min end-stop, this makes homing Z a variable - The Z-position of the build plate at home...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

And any analysis wouldn't be complete without a heat map. Attached is the heat map of Standard Deviation of the Z-axis distortion corrections as measured by the printer. I've oriented the data so the top left of the table conforms to the back left side of the print bed. All measurements are in mm. P...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

Finally, after all of the above, I changed the level and then let the machine go through its levelling routing. Afterwards, I let the machine move to various points with the distortion correction turned on, and measured the distance between the bed and the tip of the nozzle. Results are heights I ha...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

The next stage is to actually let the machine determine the level then look at the reported distortion maps. I did this many times without otherwise touching the bed - just let the machine tell me what to do then proceed on its own. Here are the results. Results 1: <-G33 X10.00 Y40.00 Z0.416 <-G33 X...

Tec4 proximity sensor for Z-min and bed level

Looking for brand and part # or link to datasheet for the proximity sensor used on the Tec4. From my previous posts you can tell I'm having bed levelling issues, so I thought I'd start looking at the instruments used to measure the level. A datasheet would certainly help troubleshoot. I have access ...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

Thanks for the kind response. I've triple checked everything on all 3 axis over the last several days: Set screws are properly affixed as much as a tiny hex-key will allow. As far as I can tell, mechanically the device is solid. I'm using the latest firmware as downloaded from your site, including t...

Re: Tec4 problems with levelling

And spent even more hours on this. I'm not at all convinced the distortion correction being measured at print-bed levelling time is being applied at print time. In digging through the source code for the Tec4 dual head firmware, I discovered a g-code command; M323. With no parameters, this simply re...
