Re: WIP: Bowden Based Dual Extruder (More Reliable, Too!)

Oh I didn't think it would get worse, I was just curious whether the finer step-per-mm value would increase repeatability of perimeters (thereby reducing the prominence of layer lines), but I suppose when you're swinging around a 350 micron nozzle, the added 3 micron positioning accuracy won't chang...

Does the new belt have any effect on print quality?

Re: Identifying The Cheapest 2012 fitflop korea Bargain

Wow, that's pretty profound. I guess they will stop sending out spam once the money stops coming in. Anyway, no biggie, I was just curious if it would make the site vulnerable to an attack, which might delete all of our accumulated threads/images. However spammers aren't exactly hackers, so there's ...

Re: Query on PVA and Duel Head extruder model

The only closed-source reliable dual-extrusion machines I know of are very very expensive, and you generally have to use that company's filament only. Seeing as you already have a Felix, just keep an eye on the forum, I know a couple of members are trying out dual extrusion now and they may come up ...

Re: Is there something like a Path Slicer?

Well, if you use either Slic3r or (my personal choice) Cura, here's what you can do. Start off by importing the wing/hull as a solid. In Slic3r: Set perimeters and top/bottom solid layers (or something like that) to 1, and infill to something very low (5-10% maybe). Choose an infill pattern you like...

Re: Cracks in models? What causes this?

+1 for increasing extruder temp. By exruding too cold, the layers won't stick very well.Combine this with ABS's high coefficient of thermal expansion, it warps as it cools and literally tears itself apart at the weakest-bonded layers. You should print slower, and disable the fan whenever possible (i...

Re: WIP: Bowden Based Dual Extruder (More Reliable, Too!)

hey Bachgassenbande, I'll just quote what I wrote in another thread which answers most of your questions: I use Cura for slicing, and while it has support for dual extruders, the G-code it generates doesn't *actually* switch extruders, just does it all on one. Silly glitch that should be fixed soon....

Re: Heated plate - dimensions

Just a heads up, I have a 3mm plate and it is more than thick enough. I have it clamped at each corner to the aluminum bed (which is uneven) and so it is under constant stress, any thinner and it would break/deform. If you're going to ditch the heated bed, you can probably use a 1-2mm glass plate by...

Re: Query on PVA and Duel Head extruder model

Minimum extrusion temperature of the Felix 2.0 (in the firmware) is set at 170 degrees, so if that is the working range of the material you'll want to override that, but otherwise there shouldn't e any problem with it, and so long as the filament diameter is 1.75mm you shouldn't have any issues with...
