Prints are shifting-- HELP!! :(

Post by strongboynyc »

Can someone tell me what is going on here, please? The extruder does not seem to be following the directions being sent to it.

Thanks. :)

Looks like an print bed adhesion problem, but I’m not entirely sure.
Try:
- Calibrating the screws on the bed perfectly (same distance to the nozzle).
- Print closer to the bed. The nozzle should smudge the filament into de bed a bit.
- Print with hotter print bed (whats the current temperature?)

If you still have adhesion problems remove the kapton and use these sheets:

I have glass down over the tape-- raised the bed temperature to 75 which the surface of the glass reaches about 65. It stickes fine to the glass. The extruder is laying down plastic at the wrong coordinates on the print bed. If you look at the left side of the print, you can see it gets some areas correct, then it moves to the other side placing the pla in the wrong spot. It's as if is 10-20 points to the left or right of where it is suppose to print. This only started after upgrading from v2.0 to v3.0.

Also, another problem is the motor that pushes the pla into the extruder starts clicking after it is about 10 mins into the print and the pla stops completely. Not sure if these issues are related.

Ok ,well maybe your steppers do need a current adjustment …

Pretty sure when I did that the instructions were clear - that was with a 2.0 model however - I'm sure someone will chime in soon ;)

This only started after upgrading from v2.0 to v3.0.
Before changing the hardware setup, downgrade to the v2.0. And check if the problem resolves. This way you can rule out hardware failure.
