Driving mechanism "eats" material

Post by maoz »

The extruder driving mechanism "eats" material every time for last 2-3 weeks. It happens after 3-more hours of work. Material - PLA, extr. temp - 200, base - 65, air inside - 29-24C.

Maybe it happens when printer print some narrow geometry and offen pull the material back, before start another line (i don't remember that parameter in SFACT)?

Got any ideas?

Try to get the pictures smaller max640x480 pixel

have you already upgreaded to the new prithead assembly??

have you modified the retract?? that is the option in Sfact how much it polls back the fillament during print.

i think thats not retract problem

i think the tension on your feeder is to high or perhaps your hotend loose tempertur und the extruder is not abel to exrude more materialso the drive-gear try to push the filament but it is not able to do this so it begin to sli all the time at the same position and eat the filament

have you checked the hotendtemperature when this happens??

From the graph untill it stops (i think) it's quite stable 200-195, then little less 200-185 but still good for PLA.

Maybe it happens cause of heat. Air inside is 29-25 plus heat from bead and fillament maybe too soft. This winter i didn't see something like this.

Just try to print. Fillament stops after 3 min.Hot End was clean (did it before w. disassembling). This time fillament just stopped when printer print solid layer, even after i loose bolt of the drive mechanism i can't push it by hands. The end of the fillaments looks a little round like it melt after 1st part & before 2nd part of the Hot End (inside of it). Temp was 185.

I think its probably a clogged extruder. If you press firmly the fillament by hand into the extruder you should see a steady stream of molten fillament with a diameter of approx. 0,35mm. If not, clean it carefully with a piece of guitar string. Make sure you use a piece of sponge to feed the fillament trough before entering the extruder. Otherwise dust will clog the extruder.
