confused about the X and Y axis

Post by mrbdrm »

in the site it says under the Specifications: Build volume (x, y, z) (255, 205, 235)
the X axis is the extruder axis by the manual, and the bed is the Y axis
isn't it supposed to be the Y axis the longer one? and the X is the shorter?
the bed is L shape and the Y is the longer.
i am having issues in simplify 3d where is show the X as the 255 and the Y 205 (the same in Felix Spec page)

I'm not shure what your problem is. You can change the dimensions in simplify3d freely.

The relevant measure is the rectangular area on the bed which can be reached by the nozzle (or both nozzles for the dual head), minus the margin defined by the end stops. The usable bed size along Y is just smaller than along X.

i tried to manually move the X axis from the LCD and it reach the end of table on 205 mm
did i mixed up the motors while connecting the electronics ?
by Dreide replay the X should be 255 or at least 240 with dual extruder.

This sounds like your steps/mm-value is not correct.

Try this: print a little test cube (something like 20 x 20 or 40 x 40) and check the outer dimensions.
Compare them with the dimensions of the CAD-model. When they are different, you just have to adjust the steps/mm-settings in the firmware EEprom-settings under the configuration-tab of RepetierHost.

printed the 20mm cube and it measures almost 19.97mm i think that is good.
i really thought that the Felix 3.0 will print with hight speed and excellent position but since i assembled it the only great prints was with really slow speeds 20mm and lower, the main issue i got is the waves and ringing.
tried tightening the belts and the X cartridge was harder to move by hand no effect, then loosening it a bit but still the issue persists.
i got a dual extruder less than a month ago, all stock.
