"extruder_insert_piece" pulley

Post by ramoos »

Guys I really need your help with a super simple spec:

Does anyone know what the extruder gear pulley technically called (e.g. GT2 T2.5 T5 etc) so I can go to local store to grab some? It doesn't make sense for me to order here since OEM spare part quotes €4.50 with shipping to LA via UPS Saver €33.01 = €37.51  OEM site also fails to spec the pulley, nor is it specced in the assembly manual... just simply, and inconveniently named "extruder_insert_piece"!

I found this parametric pulley thingie on thingiverse, but still don't know what it's called!!

Best guess is MXL or T2.5???

Thanks for any help in advance- cheers.

I have had issues with the extruder gear pulley (main extruder), noticed that my filament wasn't catching similar to some people in another post. Then noticed the extruder gear pulley had moved itself over to where it was touching the base of the stepper motor. Still don't know why this has happened, current hypothesis is not tightening grub enough and movement due to great force of feeding filament into cold entry of hot end. I took the little grub out no problem, and eventually moved the pulley to original spot. Unfortunately the crude process damaged the threading for the grub and I can't get it back in, leaving it out eventually moved the pulley back to the base of extruder.

I'd like to find it in another material, preferably one that will not erode so easily.

I dont have a pulley to look at to see if what I suggest is doable but I would have thought an appropriate drill bit and a tap could be should be able to bought locally for much less that €37 (?)

Thanks for the reply Mulder, I have no problem removing the pulley, but I need to replace it. Just having a hard time forking out exorbitant amount of cash for it. Just need to know the technical name so I can call local shops for availability.

I'm talking about this pulley:

Ok, if it needs full replacement then yeah I don't have any suggestions, hopefully someone else will know, or be willing to share costs to LA with you ...

But if you do decide to try to use it again, I was suggesting you drill a new hole and tap it for the grub, then reinstall - not %100 you understood I meant that ?
