power switch

Post by evanr »

This may seem a simple questions but I thought I'd get an answer before proceeding.

The connected black/grn wires that come out of the power supply.... can I put a switch between the blk/grn wire to toggle power on/off? It would make it easier than inserting/removing the power cable.

I assume I could, any particular type of switch?

Yes you can, The current is low so any on / off switch will work (So no push buttons that disconnect after release). But you can also solder the green wire to the Arduino/RAMPS and let the software power off the printer when the print is done:

Also, connect the purple wire if you want the arduino to stay powered on when USB isn't plugged in. It's the PSU's standby 5V line. Most useful when doing "offline" printing from an SD card.
