TMC 2100 Stepper Motor Driver - SilentStepStick

Post by 3dhuynh »

I upgrade my Felix 1.5 Stepper Motor Driver
In the video you could heard most noise from the Fan.
Your printer will be quiet and fun to print.

Hi Satoer,
First thanks you for great design of the E3D hotend carriage. I used it if you see in the video. :)
On this stepper motor driver, I still doing some testing. The hardest part to measure the current because I have to change the firmware every time to switch to this driver because it's opposite direction. So far I can't tell any skipping steps. I'll print something larger and longer time to see how the driver behave.
It's still great experiment with quiet printer :)

Thommas Sanladerer also had another review of this stepper motor driver.

Hi 3dhuynh,

i would like to get rid of the whining sound of my printer too, but i don't know how to attach
the driver to the electronics of my felix 3.0.
Did you changed the electronics board of your printer or does the board of felix 1.5 allow
changing driver-boards?

Fanass,
My printer is old version, Felix used Ramps 1.4 and Arduino boards. That's how it easy just switch the stepper motor driver. The new version Felix 3.0 the designed their on board and the driver build in .
I don't think you could easy just switch the drivers. I think it's possible for you to downgrade by replace the Ramps 1.4, Arduino boards, but no one has done it.
I think it could be done. switch the boards, modify old firmware (Felix 1.5 firmware) then flash it.
The mechanical of the printer is similar. because you able to uprated from 1.5 to 3.0 with the kit they sale.
have a great day Fanass. hope I answer your question.
