printing suddenly shifts 1 cm

Post by Geertjan »

Let me first say I am very happy with the print quality I have after the 1.5 printer upgrade. Backlash is now a thing of the past. But that said I encountered a new problem during printing. With no apparent reason during printing the printerhead shifts suddenly about one centimeter and continues printing with the next layers misaligned by one centimeter. In the log file in reptier host the folowing message appears echo:endstops hit: X:83.78 but the printhead is somewhere in the middle of the printbed and did not hit anything.

Hi Geertjan,

It looks like there is a bad contact with the opto-sensor of the x-axis. Could be that the wire-ends don't make good enough contact with the screw terminals of the opto-sensor. Maybe cable breakage or maybe the connector on the ramps board is not properly connecting.

Thank you Guillaume. I'll test the contacts. While upgrading I indeed rearranged some wiring.

It was indeed one of the screw terminals of the x axis sensor. Problem solved :-)
