OEM extruder gear (cog) size ?

Post by CandyMan »

I have only recently purchased a Felix 3 w/dual hotend, and the printer is running well so far, I have noticed that the second extruder uses a different (finer) gear/cog and have not yet succesfully printed with ext2 (t1). I assume that the more subtle gear is for use with elastic or support type filaments.. I would however like to be able to use ext2 for normal ABS and PLA printing. This leads to my question: are the Extruder gear(s) available for purchase anywhere. I have to found them anywhere on the Felix webshop..

Kind Regards

Hello, The cogs can differ, we used to have the finer grained gears, but they don't have as much grip on the long term as the larger grained gears.

To give the gears more pressure on the filament, you could adjust the extruder arm, by turning the bolt on top of the extruder arm counter clockwise.

I assume you currently have brass gears, I would recommend to take the stainless steal variant. which has a lot more grip.
