Z-Jump

Post by Fabbers »

We have a Felix that printed for a few weeks and now has developed a Z jump. After 4-10 layers the machine jumps which result in uneven printing as per the pics attached. Has anyone had the same issues and what can we do about it.

Some possible reasons (more or less likely):
- the pulley could be partially loose
- the stepper driver voltage could be a little bit low/the friction could be a little bit too high for the voltage
- the hot end could bump into previously printed areas and disslocate a little bit.

Wouldn't this be called X- or Y-Jump?
The range of Z heights where this is happening is big enough to say that this is random.. so something loose is a more probable cause...
