z moter slips

Post by Geertjan »

I have a strange problem. When the printed part is approx. 5mm high the steps of the z motor become smaller and eventualy the moter slips and the bed is not lowered anymore. I have to stop printing because the nozzle yams into the printed object. The problem occurs on every printtest I do.
I can how ever lower the bed effortless by pressing the fixed distance buttons in the repetier host printpannel

After reading Suraki's post I decided to reduce the energy form the stepper driver by adjusting the stepperpot down. And presto it seems to work. Conclusion is that I was overheating the driver
I now realize what happened. I saw a slight irregular z motor behavior and concluded that I had not enough energy for the z motor and turned the stepperpot up. How wrong I was.
