Cardboard Looking heated bed?????

Post by benny2790 »

Ordered a new print bed due to old one deforming and i received a cardboard like aluminum bed can anyone shed some light on this?

Since the "ribs" are glued whats the max temp it can go to without it failing and sliding apart?

Hi Benny,

This is the latest heated bed. It can safely withstand temps upto 120 degC. It's an aluminum sandwich plate. It is stiffer, lighter and also flatter. The manual can be found here: www.felixprinters.com/downloads

Well i ordered a replacement two weeks ago and the aluminum sandwich is what i received, the new bed a lot better than the original flimsy aluminum plate which was warped the day i got it. The variances on the new plate isn't visible but i have not measured it, just eyed it. Although i haven't printed on it due to the original question of the withstand temperature

Watch out by printing with window open because the 'upper' bed will cool to much when wind from outside blow through te 'cardboard'.
Maybe it is better to tape it.

@hvdweerd
Thx for your experience.
As I have had good experience with pringting on glass and hair spray I will keep that with the new sandwitch plate if necessary.

Have recieved my new heated bed yesterday.
Looks really nice and much more stable.

@gfeliksdal
Why were there no bolts including in the parcel? Is this common?

As soon as I cuted some screws I will install the bed and hopefully have an even bed.
