USB device not recognized

Post by instasquid »

I've just assembled a Felix 2.0 and have it hooked up to a Windows 7 laptop, but I can't get through the calibration process. I've installed the drivers, connected to the printer through the software, but always while moving the hotbed into place the computer and printer stop talking to each other and I get an error saying "USB device not recognized." The full text of which suggests it's malfunctioned.

Anyone else had this error? Any suggestions on how I can fix it?

Thanks!

So if you press connect, the whole firmware information gets posted on the log-screen?
Did you select a baud rate of 250000 ? (configuration => printer settings)

Yes, the baud rate is fine, and it does sometimes connect, waiting until I'm just about finished configuring the Z axis to suddenly disconnect.

I tried plugging the printer into a different computer and that worked well for a while, but now I have a laptop an a computer that claim not to recognize the USB device no matter which USB port use.

The complete error reads:
USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
I also have the screen module and it doesn't display anything when plugged into the circuit board. Could it be a problem with the board?

Yes, this is the normal connection mubo jumbo from the printer. I just wanted to know it so we can exclude a wrong com port from you're troubles.

According to this post on the Arduino forum it helps to use another (better quality) USB cable.

Try this google search:

It seems that you're not the only one with this specific problem.

That seems to have fixed it. I am speechless.

Thanks so much, Satoer! Really appreciate the help.
