Post by Mayhem »

Have anyone tested this software? Support generation sounds awesome, ive requested trial version.
reprap forum users did get trial version just by asking them.

I got answer

Thank you for the interest in the software! Right now the only version we have is the full retail copy that we supply to our customers. We don't have a trial or demo version. In the meantime, are there any specific questions you have about the software? We currently support about 90% of the desktop 3D printers out there - anything running Marlin, Sprinter, Repetier, Sailfish, or even the MakerBot firmware. If you want to let me know what printer you are using, I would be happy to confirm our compatibility for that device.

have only had it for a couple of days as a mac user and my initial thoughts as a predominately kissslicer user:

I'm looking for alternatives to kisslicer as development seems to have stopped??? but I do love kisslicer.

slicing time just as quick if not faster than kisslicer.

print quality on my limited prints very good, so far very happy.

nice to have the slicer and controls all in one again.

I had to drop baud rate down to 115200 on felix board to get working properly.

I haven't tried dual extrusion as I don't have my second extruder working yet.

Love the support easy removal, have tried slic3r and kisslicer, and I think support removal under this product is the best so far and just peels off

Would like to see in future versions:

interactive print object progress like repeiter host, so I can see whats being printed when it's printing.

Thinks I don't like atm but will probably get used to:

Jog panel/manual controls is hidden under a tab and not default.

heres a few quick pics, quality of the photos don't do them justice, if I get a chance to I'll take some proper ones, these were just done with my phone.

Both printed in ABS, Extruder temp 223DegC, HotBed 100DegC, base speed 60mm/sec

Octo is 0.1mm and surface is like satin :) I love this printer!

Compared to kisslicer, which is my gold standard for slicers at the moment, is that it performs much better all round. If I printed the octo in kisslicer I'd have blobs all over the surface, with this slicer there is NO indication of where layer starts and stops are.

also not showing in the pics is how easy, compared to kisslicer, of how easy it is to remove support. In the review that was posted previously it shows the support interface that it prints between the part and the support and makes things easier to get off. I used this (although not shown in the pic) on the part in the middle picture, a handle cover for a seat in a light aircraft, and the base has a small cylinder protruding which makes it impossible to print without support, with kisslicer I couldn't even remove the support, Slic3r wasn't any better, same with Cura, which is what led me to look for alternatives. I really like the UP printer and how it's support just peels off, while this is not the same as that, it is certainly getting closer to it.

Another nice feature, it can print a bed of parts, a part at a time, each with different settings, i.e. speed, temperature etc

As I mentioned earlier there are a couple of nuisances but I'm getting over them. Quality of printed part is excellent.

So far it's a keeper for me and well worth the money.
