Has anyone got good dual extrusion prints whit simplify3d?
Printed first dual print and oozing ruins the print

I haven´t done a big dual colour print yet, but these things might help:

1. lower temperature (170-175°C) reduce oosing
2. higher retraction distance (maybe larger than 4 mm )
3. tall brim, single wall for both extruders, otherwise the molten filament in the unused extruder could leave an ugly mark at the beginning of the layer

I didn´t find a way to reduce the temperatur for the unused extruder (Slic3r has an option for that).
Maybe something in the tool change G-code?

I agree with Legion,

the very few prints I've done with dual extruder within simplify, I lowered the temp of extruder not printing by 10Deg, increased retraction to about 3mm, made my brim height 99999 with an offset from my object of only 1-2mm, this did help considerably, however I still have problems getting my other extruder up to temp before it needs to print.

I do think that Kisslicer is better for dual extruding prints until Simplify make this area better.

Stephen.

How do you decrease the temperatur of the inactive extruder? There is no option in S3d for that.
Do you use a custom tool change G-code?

If so, could you post it please? I´m still not very familiar with the G-code syntax.

I got decent results whit cura, it builds nice ooze shield around the object.

Nice, well done. My feelings are that simplify definitely needs more work in the area of multi material printing.

I think there is an onchange script and you need to put geode settings in there.

I finally discovered what causes my issues with dual extrusion printing with S3d: When you use multiple nozzle temperatures (200°C for 1st layer, 185°C for 2nd, ...), the program fails to create a correct G-Code. That´s definitely a bug of this software.

So, i was able to create an (almost) correct G-code. (the 2nd layer is still buggy, it´s printed entirely with one nozzle, but that´s something you can manually correct in the G-code-editor if necessary)

Here are the results:
Before cleaning
Before cleaning
after cleaning
after cleaning
I tried to build an ooze-shield ( it´s a bit too far away, but it´s not much better when it´s closer), but due to the size of the object, it didn´t help that much. There are some spots of brown pla in the silver section, and some silver in brown. :|

I was printing at 190 °C, FormFutura PLA.
4mm retraction

Anybody had more luck with printing larger objects with 2 colours?

Hi Guys, I have recently purchased this software (S3D) and find that it works well and is quite fast at slicing.
One problem I found was that it would work well on the windows computer but not on the Apple Mac (Macbook Pro) until I updated the Firmware for my felix 2 and changed the baud rate to 115200 instead of the default. I am currently printing at the moment and so far no problems.
Control is good and I love the preview player that allows for the checking of printing problems.
I agree that there is a little money to be outlaid on the software but in my consideration it is well worth it, and hope to see further improvements.
I also use Cura at times, and find both far better for me than the supplied Repiteir Host, just my opinion.
Currently printing with PET+ with good results in all colours except the clear at around the 240 degC mark. Good printing.

I recently did some experiments with simplify. Single head printing works pretty well. Dual head is nightmare. Temeperature and retraction controls seem odd. I could not find how to correct the g-code as it is not displayed as in slice3r. Any suggestions ?
Could felix 3.0 dual be included in list of suggested printers ?
