extruder tip scrapes part on rapid traverse

Post by stillcool40 »

When printing on my felix 2 the extruder tip drags across the part while in rapid traverse. This causes danage to exit hole which then needs repaired.

It seems that before a rapid traverse the bed should drop but theres no setting I can see in slic3r to tell it to do that.

any ideas ?

Switch to Expert Mode:
Under Printer Settings, Extruder1/Extruder2, set Lift Z to 0.15mm or thereabouts to lift Z slightly on each retraction.
Then under Print Settings->Infill, uncheck "Only retract when crossing perimeters." Depending on how much it's scraping, you may be able to get by without changing this setting for a slight increase in overall print speed.

I'm having the same problem with my Felix 3.0 when I use SFACT.
Any help?

Sure, you need to activate "hop" for SFACT. See the pic below. 1mm is default.

Just an FYI - SFACT takes foever to slice in comparison to Slic3r. I was hesitant to come over to Slic3r when I spent so much time "perfecting" SFACT but learned very quickly that the slicer is much more user friendly and seems to work better on the Felix for me. All IMHO...everyone is different.
