spring loaded extruder

Post by mrbdrm »

Hello
am i the only one that having trouble with the washers sandwich design??? this thing never worked for me, all the washers rotate with the screw and disassembling the whole dual extruder's to fix this is really time consuming.
my question: whats the best replacement extruder available? is it possible to remove the washers and install a spring instead?

Thank you and sorry for the rambling

One thing you can do is replacing the thin nut at the end of the washer stack by a thicker nut, thereby giving the nut a better hold in its recess. Anyway, there is only a rather small range where the screw actually controls the idler tension. So if you have to much tension, it might be better to just reduce the washer stack by a crinkled washer or so. This can be done without disassembling the whole extruder block, at least if a thick nut is in place.
